Bad translation

Etes-vous déjà tombés sur ce genre de pancarte   ? Cela vient pourtant d’un grand hotel assez connu à Moscou. L’anglais est pour le moins surprenant. Quand je l’ai lu, je ne comprenais pas très bien ce que j’étais supposée faire. Si vous etes le gérant d’un établissement prestigieux, de petites choses comme celles-ci peuvent mettre à mal votre réputation. Une meilleure version de cette tentative de traduction donnerait quelque chose comme cela : “Chers Clients! (Ils ont compris cette partie-là!) Nous vous prions de placer la serviette de bain au sol au sortir de votre douche.” Le message est transmis d une manière claire, précise et dans un anglais compréhensible qu’aucun anglophone ne pourrait ignorer. Cette pancarte est un très bon exemple de mauvaise traduction.
